Severe Dry Skin

I had a friend message me on FB asking what I thought she could do for her 6 month old son's severely dry skin.  She's taken him to the dermatologist but is reluctant to use the medicine they gave him.  He is constantly clawing at his face because it's so dry and itchy.  Any ideas what she could use that is natural?  I've told her to try using some her breastmilk.

Coconut or olive oil (I would rub in breastmilk first then oil afterwards), does he have eczema? Could it be allergy related?

We use this with ds and dd.  Both have some environmental allergies that cause eczema and it clears it right up.

I would try this. Works for me. Didn't help dd on her body, but baby biruti body butter from the body shop did

Sounds like excema. I took care of a baby once with the same thing...turned out to be severe food allergy.

I agree with food sensitivity or allergy. My sons skin was a nighmare until we found out his allergens and eliminated them. Sadly her breast milk rubbed on the area could make it worse if it is an allergen, the allergen will be in her milk because she's eating that food. She should try an elimination diet. Milk, Wheat and Egg are the most common allergens to cause eczema (any allergen can though not just those 3) I would start with those 3 completely eliminate for up to 3 weeks (from her diet) hold off on solids for baby.... I would also suggest pure organic virgin unrefined coconut oil. My sons skin does not clear with that alone so we have to use California Baby Calendula on top of that.

is the child vaxed? if so, then they can expect the skin condition to get much worse. If he is not vaxed, then i would think its a hereditary condition. .  altho vaccines can trigger a herditary condition to pop up.

It sounds like eczema which can be caused by food allergies or sensitivities.  What worked best for my daughter's eczema was coconut oil.
