Signing a waiver

We discussed with our family dr last week that when we bring Ellie in for her 2 month apt next month we wont be getting her vaccinated. She doesn't agree but said we would need to sign a waiver whenever we decline them.
Do you guys know anything about the waivers?

yes they are VERY incrimminating and basically say you know you are putting your child and others at risk for not vaccinating...you can always cross out ANY parts of the form you do not agree with, and initial it.  If i were you, i'd print of my own form and tell her that's the one you are using.  I think theres a link to one in the Links forum or the On the Fence forum.  WATCH OUT too, as i have heard of other parents whose drs eventually kicked them out of the practice for not vaxing-even tho the dr initially claimed they wouldn't.

I have read the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Vaccine Information Sheet(s) explaining the vaccine(s) and the disease(s) for which it is intended. I have had the opportunity to discuss this with my child’s health care provider, who has answered all of my questions regarding the recommended vaccine(s). I understand the following:

● The intended purpose of the recommended vaccine(s).
● The risks and benefits of the recommended vaccine(s).
● If my child does not receive the vaccine(s), the consequences may include
- Contracting the illness the vaccine should prevent. (the outcomes of these illnesses may include one or more of the following: pneumonia, illness requiring hospitalization, death, brain damage, meningitis, seizures, and deafness. Other severe and permanent effects from these vaccine -preventable diseases are possible as well)
- Transmitting the disease to others.
- The need for my child to stay out of child care or school during disease outbreaks.

●If my child does receive the vaccine(s), the consequences may include:
-Contracting the illness the vaccine should have prevented
-Transmitting the disease to others
-Suffering from any of the adverse events listed in the package insert and possibly adverse events not
yet listed and/or associated with the vaccine. (the outcomes of these adverse events may include one or more of the following: illness requiring hospitalization, death, brain damage, meningitis, seizures, and deafness. Other severe and permanent effects from these vaccines are possible as well)
-Chronic illness and/or death

● My health care provider, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Academy of Family Physicians, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have all strongly recommended that the vaccine(s) be given based on the information they have been given by the drug companies producing the vaccines.

I have declined consent for the vaccine(s) recommended for my child, as indicated above, by checking the appropriate box under the column titled “Declined.”

I know that I may re-address this issue with my health care provider at any time, and that I may change my mind as personal beliefs are subject to evolve and change over time.

I acknowledge that I have read this document in its entirety and fully understand it.

Thank you. Is it standard practice everywhere to have parents sign a waiver?
Yes she did mention that they've had clients leave because the "on call drs won't see unvaxed kids" I don't really believe this because we've never seen an on call dr in over 5 years. I feel its probably because of our drs attitudes. Ive begin to seriously debate just going to a naturopath in the area that was recommended by a family friend and foregoing the dr. what do ppl do as far as sick visits? And can an office refuse to see you for sick visits if you arent coming to the well visits?

nowadays, pedi's offices can do just about anything they please, whether or not it puts an ill child in jeopardy...you should DEF check into a naturopath if you have the option, Lord knows i wish i did!!!  And  believe it, because, if you ever have to use an on call dr on the weekend or whatever, you just mite experience your first firing from the on call dr.  or worse, get lectured, and bullied by them too.... and yes, it is becoming standard practice everywhere, from what i read...about the only time i DON'T hear of it is in a family practice office, not a pedi...maybe a family dr would be better, but if i were you, i'd check out the naturopath.  Allopathic medicine seems to only make us sicker..."the cure is worse than the disease".. and its true.

Good to know thankyou! We actually see a family dr now, not much good theyre doing us. For jobs or school when they ask for a yearly physical how would I go about that?

your employer should be the one paying for and directing you to THEIR company dr....you should not be paying for ANY employment physical.  For school,  the health dept does school physicals, and some schools do too...or go to a clinic for it.
