MIL vaccinated my dog!

I just want to rant. Its been two months but im still upset. My MIL knows how I feel about vaccination. I went to great lengths to keep my dog vax free. YES thats illegal, but I would also kill anyone that tried to vax my kids and I'd probably flee the country if they became mandatory.

Okay, so I even found a Holistic Vet who was against vax and willing to see my dog on the down low. I decided not to neuter the dog either. The only reason I had him see this vet was to get my MIL off my back. She claimed my dog was emaciated and that I wasn't fit to be a dog owner. Well, I got the vets seal of approval that my dog was a healthy, well behaved in-tact male that needed no medical intervention.

Still my MIL insisted that my dog needed shots to be groomed and needed to be neutered for behavior. Again, had the holistic vet see him, got the number to a groomer who didn't check vax status and had the vet write a note to my MIL that the dog's behavior was fine and even if it wasn't, at age 5, nothing would be changed by neutering him.

I also didn't have the dog registered. WHY? because they would want him vaccinated every year!

MIL knew all of this. She was fully aware of how much money i spent to keep the dog vax free and hidden from the state.

Well, I went on vacation for two weeks and guess who Neutered and FULLY vaccinated my dog while I was away?! YEP! And she went as far as telling the vet that did it, not to release any information about the dog to me! Then I find out, she registered my dog with the state, UNDER HER NAME! So now I have a neutered dog that I can't breed, he's completely vaccinated, not just the state required rabies, and the state thinks its her dog and is going to request vaccination records every year! I told her to tell the state he's dead because there is no way in hell im doing that every year!

AS a result, my new rule is that MIL is not allowed to be with the children alone. EVER. My SO thinks im paranoid, but why shouldn't I be?

I guess I need validation here. What would you do? She vaccinated him in June.

Exactly what I was going to say. The dog is your "property" and she has no to do anything without your permission and especially against your will.

Not only could you seek reimbursement for the costs you incrued, but the loss of income since you can no longer breed your dog.

And the relationship would be over. End of story.

Honestly I would take her to court! You have records from the first vet right? How dare she! I would be livid. Forget a wall, that would effectively end a relationship for me. And definately wouldn't leave the kids with her!

Agreed!  Seek legal counsel on this, if only for your own piece of mind...you dont want to go down the road of 'what if's' when all is said and done.

My dh and I have discussed many times about what we would do if the city took our intact female and spayed her without our permission, the answer would be that we would sue them for loss of possible income as well as distraction of property; our city requires a mandatory intact permit for any dog that is not speutered ($100) as well as registered with the city ($100). If I breed, that's an additional breeders permit ($50) with a puppy permit ($50) as well as now an over the limit permit ($100) and with that, all over the limit dogs would have to me speutered and a picture takes and attached to the application before approval.

My mom has limited access to my kids after the damage she did to my oldest (while she had him for 5 months while I was setting everything up and getting housing in Germany where I was stationed, she told him that I did not love him or want him anymore and that's why I was not there), we just started talking last year after I cut all contact with her in 2003, I told her she gave me up for adoption, I did 18 yrs without her, and I can easily do the rest of my life without her.

I do not believe your being paranoid, your SO should stand behind you for sure. MIL is in the wrong, I know to sue her could put a huge strain on the relationship between SO and her, but at the same time, she cannot get away with it. I also agree that she should not be trusted with your kids because she has proven she cannot be trusted to respect your decisions of how things are done in your household.

Sue her for literally stealing your damn dog! Do pets HAVE to be licensed and such in your state? Do they have to be vaccinated?

Btw - are you still speaking to her? Because I'd get a divorce before I ever talked to that C YOU N T again :O

My MIL fed my son Cheerios AFTER I told her not to. She also fed him egg noodles, processed sliced cheese, and hot dogs. I hadn't tested him for an egg allergy yet. I didn't want him on processed cheese and hot dogs. He was 9 months old!! So I screamed at her and for the sake of trying to work it out, I apologized for yelling but told her how she had no right to do such things. She said 'sorry' once. She came to my 1st sons birthday party, then Christmas. Yelled at my boyfriend because her ex husband was there and we didn't 'warn' her so she ran out. She never spoke to me again anyway after that. Whateverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Where do people think they have a RIGHT to just do such things?! That's what astounds me.

I was talking to some ASGDSGASWE the other day who said 'We don't have rights in America' and that only Tort court and something else are our rights. I couldn't even respond to him. He thinks we haven't lost rights either because we never had any to begin with?!?!?

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?!! I need a drink..................

(Excuse my rant)
