  • I do NOT do them.

Weren't they basically designed just to vax babies?

I know when my baby is healthy. :o)

For 2000 years doctors looked at the world through the filter (belief) that 'bleeding was therapeutic'. Not until the general education of the public lead people to rebel against this mistake was it corrected. Today many look at the world through the belief that 'vaccines work'.    www.myspace.com/parentsagainstvax

  • I go to some of them.  I don't see the need to go to all of them because they are based on the vaxing schedule.  My Dr isn't nasty about me not vaxing so I don't have to "worry" about fighting with her about it but it's a hassle to round up my 4 kiddos just to find out, yes she's healthy, when I already know that.

  • We don't vax anymore and I have been debating the same thing  We go for the well baby visits, but no i am not really seeing the point.  It makes my husband feel better tho, so unless my ped really gives me a hard time (which he is starting to) we will continue to go.  If my ped makes it impossible for me, then we will stop and find another ped.  Also, my oldest dd had some issues with her hormones and we see her dr and an endrocinologist for this.

  • We do them, but its because DS is H/H and also has other medical problems. The new baby will also have them because DS's medical problems could have passed to him as well. We just see a doctor who shrugs when we say no about the vaccines... the same as my OBGYN did when I told her to put it in the record that our new baby wasn't getting them either. Same clinic/hospital. The only one I had a problem with there was a nurse who had to draw my blood for the glucose test. I don't remember how it came up, but we got to talking about chicken pox. She went off on a tangent about "irresponsible mothers" not vaccinating their kids against it. She had a needle in my arm, so I didn't say anything... I wanted to though... I just figure as long as my doctors agree with me we'll continue to see them.

I also had one problem with a nurse back when DS was 12 months old and she gave him the shots I told her not to. DH's fault too, though, since he didn't stop her. He's more knowledgeable now and knows better. No more shots for our kids! Especially since DS seems to be getting better with some of his medical problems since it's almost been a year since he received a vaccine.

  • None of my 3 children have ever been to an MD.  We do however see a chiropractor when they aren't feeling well and just for wellness visits.

  • Isis goes because:

*her Dr checks for things I can't
*he takes the time to answer all my questions
*I like having that relationship established so if something does happen he knows who we are and he knows her medical history and I know what to expect from him
*if I didn't take her I would have never learned about and been able to manage her iron deficiency (but that goes back to my first point)

It took a while, but after we interviewed a coupled peds we found one that we really love, he's very supportive of our decisions and he would never challenge me on anything he may not agree with.

  • we do them up to 6 months. Tayden is a slow weight gainer so i have been taking him to all his plus i like to know where they are in the very beg. After 6 months they go once a year or unless sick enough i think they need to see a doctor.

  • We were selectivly vaccinating until Ella turned 12 months, and we couldn't get the mumps seperate from the MMR.  No one in the tri-state area ofers it!  So, I researched more and now we are done.  No more shots for my kiddo.

I am over due for her 15 month appointment... she will be 16 months at the time.  I just want to go because I want to check her weight and I had a few other questions.  I can't keep her on a scale here and I want to be sure she is still able to rear face in our carseat... or if we need to get that new one just yet :)

  • Just wanted to add a response to what I highlighted.  What about you weighing yourself and then holding her and subtracting your weight?  Also, for the carseats, I am a huge advocated of RF as long as possible, but to know when you need to switch, just read your carseat manual and the height/weight requirements.  For instance, if your dd is still in an infant carrier carseat, then the limit is probably 20 lbs (not sure of the height).  You can always switch her to a toddler convertible seat, most of those go rf to at lease 33-40 lbs depending on which on you get :)

  • The heights AND weights on each infant carseat varies GREATLY now. I know MANY that do have them that go to 30lbs, so definitelly be aware of your own carseat's manual on the limitations.

I would also suggest the weighing yourself and then her BUT the problem with this is that it is often off up to 1-3 lbs this way unforunately and CAN vary by how you even hold her!!

I have a baby scale I purchased when my little guy was born so this helps me, he is still near impossible to weight and don't cooperate real well...OOPSIE!
