Can anyone tell me what the "qualifications" are to get a medical exemption?
My little brother got encephalitis after getting his MMR vaccine. My mom came down with an auto-immune diesease after getting the Hep B vaccine in the early 90's.
With having some family history of bad reactions, do you think that would "qualify" me. And who exactly decides that? My doctor? I go to Dr. Lauren Feder. Some of you may have read her books. She's a homeopathic doctor.
Sorry, my kids are only 2 and 8 months. So I'm really ignorant when it comes to exemptions and how to obtain them since I havent been down that road yet.
I *think* you need your Doctor's signature to qualify, so it'd be up to him really. BUT there are only two states that only recognize medical exemptions, the rest recognize religious exemptions and there are a handful of states that recognize philosophical exemptions. Where do you live?

All states have medical exemptions; they are difficult to get, often have to be renewed, and can be challenged. And no, a family history does not qualify you anywhere. Generally speaking, you are only exempt from the particular vaccine that caused a life threatening reaction in the person requesting the exemption.
All but two states have religious exemptions (WV and MS).
About 22 states have philosophical.
