Is there any books or websites you ladies might recomend for helping me get all the information i might need to recognize and treat any diseases that my children might catch? My children (are not my biological children) are fully up to date on their vaccines. ...But my oldest is going into kindegarten this fall and he (as well as my younger boy) will not be recieving any more vaccines unless they choose to when they are older. But i was not prepared to have to do this so soon. So my research on everything is being rushed. Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA.

I know some women in this group use "how to raise a healthy child in spite of your doctor" - i haven't read that, but it seems like a good book. I use a more 'natural' approach to our health, so along with eating mostly non-processed foods and very minimal sugars/starches/etc, we do certain vitamins when it's needed. For infections, I up the Vitamin A, also Vitamin C for just about everything. Echinacea if it seems like just a cold, and whatever else I can think of for that particular bug. Vitamin A is pretty much all you would need if your children happened to catch the measles, chicken pox, or whatever. I caught a nasty sinus infection a couple of months ago and started giving my daughter extra A when I realized what it was, and all she got was some boogers and that's it (mine turned into a full blown ear infection that only antibiotics treated, ugh!). We also see a holistic chiropractor whenever we feel the need. He's very helpful in finding different ways to treat things, and teaching me what to use when it comes to things like allergies (I'm allergic to grass, not good when you live in FL!). I would definitely look into a chiro, or a naturopath if possible if you're into that route. The ones that I've been to seem so much better than the regular MD's I've had to see.
