  • Not to long ago I remember watching Sylvia Browne on Montel Williams and she said that her guide, Francine, said sugar needs to be cut out of humans' lives because it is the worst thing we eat.  Guess maybe she was right!

  • i was not a huge sweets eater as a kid- but since i got pregnant i have had a huge sweet tooth! we had a HUGE bag of peanut m&ms and i told my boyfriend a few days ago to take it to work and that we were not going to buy sweets anymore because i have eaten WAY to much sugar in the past year and a half it disgusts me. it truely is addicting! not to say that i won't make christmas cookies or have pumpkin pie (hehe) but it won't the the norm anymore! anything in moderation.. but people abuse sugar so often moderation is way less than we think.

  • And don't forget...there is sugar in flour...we've just recently taken flour out of our diets. Well...I am not so good about it, but my husband is stud with not eating it. Another thing, don't know if this was on the list... but sugar raises your glucose levels, which raises your insulin levels..which then your body kicks in on the high levels of cortisol and thats where that extra tummy comes from... when my husband cut the flour and sugars out completely for a few weeks, he lost that tiny lit bit of tummy that he could not get rid of... I have yet to follow in his ways... :)

AND>> his mom called a few weeks ago telling us that she was just diagnosed with diabetes. Her doc of course wanted her on meds and she said she'd rather do this by changing her lifestyle. My husband put her on a strict diet, no flour no sugar AT ALL...just protien protien protien...just for the first few weeks...he made her change her sleeping habits..had her eating 6 small meals a day..

It has been tough for her to change all of these things... She said the hardest has been eating more often. But she has been a trooper and followed it to a T and low and behold..she went back to the doc after only 2 weeks of this.. and they already no longer consider her a diabetic!! She ROCKED!! We are so proud of her!

Just wanted to make the point that cutting out that sugar and flour as well (all flour, whole grain or not) will do wonders for our health! I am not a nutrionist.. but our good friend was voted one of the top 10 nutrionist in the country. So we learn alot from her and RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH!!

I love that idea!!  I was trying to think of something to do in the coming years when my daughter actually starts liking things like Halloween, but I don't want her eating all that candy!  I'll probably try and figure out a way to switch all that candy for her faves - bananas, plums, peaches, apricots, pineapple, and whatever other fruits are around!!

  • I LOVE sugar, I knew it was bad for you but not that bad :(. I had no idea it could cause Toximia in pregnant women. But how does it lead to Alcoholism?! That one I don't get. Oh well.

  • Yes, there is a LOT more sugar in the everyday foods we eat than we'd like to think about. I challenge every one of you to check the sugar content of everything you buy next time you are at the grocery store and try not to buy one thing that hsa over 5g of sugar per serving b/c that's how much sugar it takes to deplete your immune system by 60%!!! That's only one teaspoon!
