i was having the same problem. i was always unpacking the diaper bag because i would always pack things that i wouldnt ever use.

What i usually pack is this:
diapers--quantity depends on how long you will be gone.
wipes
diaper rash cream- just in case
formula
bottle
burp rag
extra outfit- in case of a spit up, or if he leaks through
any meds needed
extra small blanket..

im not really sure what else to pack. my son is only 3 weeks old... so im still trying to figure it out. But thats what i take around right now... and i dont seem to need anything that isnt in the bag! hope this helps

I just pack the basics you don't need extras unless for a really long visit..

Diapers - at least 4

wipes

extra outfit

pacifier -if you use it pack like to bc they like to hide in the bag

tylenol- i leave a small bottle because you never know when you will need it

a small blanket

Changing pads especially if you going to a store

possible bottle of milk if you don't bf in public but i did so i never had the bottle

rash cream

and for the just circumcized boy vaseline and glaze..

For the short trips, I pack:

At least 3 diapers for baby, 1 for 3 yr old

   wipes

   burp cloth

   extra outfit for baby

blanket and pacifier are with her in car seat.
