I wanted to try a little activity I guess you could call it...

For all the moms that breastfeed in public...

Share a story about your worst public encounter (like the worst negative reaction you have seen towards yourself)

And share a story of your BEST public encounter (the best reaction you have had towards yourself)

If you don't have a story yet and if your willing... go into public and nurse and tell us the reactions you got.

If you don't breastfeed in public its ok... I am sure you have a story of your worse and best reaction also...

I nurse in public all the time.  I honestly have not noticed anything either way.  Maybe its because I don't pay attention to what other people think.  I really don't care!!!!  Mind you, I do try to be discreet about it.  Although I've stopped using a blanket to cover up.  I just make sure my shirt is all the way down to Megyn's mouth....

I was kicked out of KB Toys for nursing my baby (discreetly) and it was absolutely humiliating.  I've had many people who will just smile, though, or tell me how wonderful it is to see someone breastfeeding.

Maybe it is a good thing KB is closing...

My worst NIP experience has to be when my 1st child was a semi-new baby and we were out eating at a resturant and there was a guy at the next table that was SOOO rude and made some comments that I should not be nursing at the table and that I should go to the bathroom to do it and how he was losing his appetite....Well,my DH is VERY outspoken and more or less told the guy that he was more than welcome to go eat his dinner in the bathroom but our son was not going to and that if he didn't want to encounter such a "situation", then he shouldn't come to a FAMILY resturant...

I usually get smiles and commended on doing such a good thing for my baby and it is usually men that commend me....The people that usually give me dirty looks are old ladies....

I was on a plane to California and they were telling us about all the safety stuff and then the got to the part about the oxygen masks. The flight attendant was telling me some thing about if the mask come down to put mine on first then hers and I couldn't hear him so I kept asking what he was talking about and he looked really confused and he asked me if I had a baby. The look on his face was hilarious!

Yah thats my only stories so far...

You can actually sue them for kicking you out. Your baby has to eat just like a formula fed baby does.

I've never had a bad experience. But I had a good one. I was standing in line at the DMV and my son was hungry. So I pulled out a blanket and fed him. He was a NOISY little eater, and EVERYONE could tell I was feeding him. LOL.   One guy made a comment about how much my son was enjoying his lunch, lol. And everyone else in line was smiling. :)

No negative reactions. The plane was difficult i was sitting near a lot of pre-teen boys and didn't want  to flash them. So I attempted to cover baby with blanket. He of course hated the blanket and knocked it off every time then cried. I don't nurse in public unless there is no choice, and then I am not nervouse that people will say mean things, but I am afraid they might like it a little tooooo much hmmmmm lol
