Hello everyone :) Welcome to my group! My name is Avery, and I am a happy and thriving one year old! Due to some unfortunate circumstances during birth, I suffered a hypoxic event (lack of oxygen) and have severe global developmental delays, a seizure disorder, feeding dysfunction (aspiration and g-tube), hypertonia, hypotonia in my trunk, HIE (hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy), slow gastric emptying, and reflux. Cerebral palsy has been informally thrown out there too, and we are just waiting on a complete diagnosis of spastic quad. I was just fitted for DAFO's, and hopefully it will help with weight bearing excercises! I have had a very hard first year of life, with hospital visits, lots and lots of therapy, tests, and doctor visits. But I remain one of the happiest babies on the block :) I love my mom and dad. Despite all the challenges that have come my way, I have continued to smile and bless my parents more and more each day.
