Hey everyone!
I want you to look at the "How to find your PS/As" post and let everyone know what your top four are!  Again mine are motorcycle, mixed marshall arts, fitness and health, and elementary children.  Can't wait to find out what all of yours are!!

  • This was a tough one for me to answer! I had to really, really think about it. lol. I like photographing EVERYTHING!

But here's what I narrowed it down to.
    1. children in motion! Unposed.

    2. unposed people on the street.

    3. Anything beachy or sunset related! lol.

    4. misc. still shots of anything from plants to benches.

How's that for a list? Did I do this right? I just started the book, and was reading this part of it last night! :)

  • Oh, and I guess I should mention that I feel a very strong pull, a calling, if you will, towards doing some type of photography for children with disabilities! I want to do something good...for those who have major challenges and hurdles in this life. I feel so strongly about it, that I am teary eyed just typing this! lol.

I just don't know where to begin with that. I feel lost. I want so desperately to help families with children or adults, who cannot or do not want to go into a studio for pictures. I want to take personal, candid, touching shots of them in their environment...doing whatever it is that makes them happy!

And I am not looking to get rich off of this. In fact, I want to do this for them at a super discounted rate or even free...if they struggle financially.

So, if anyone in this group has any suggestions on what I can do to actually get this dream off the ground...I would appreciate it.

It's not my only dream either...I still really love photojournalism too! :)

  • Hmm. . . let's see.  I think I can come up with something for this.  Are there any children's hospitals in your area?  Maybe contact them about offering your services to parents with children with terminal illnesses.  Also, I would look up assistance firms in your area.  There are places that help children and adults with disabilities learn to live on their own.  You might be able to get in that way.  And don't forget about using these photos for stock.  So get model releases if the parents are okay with that ;-)  Hope this helps!
