So ladies, if your ex is not involved or involved very little in you LO's life, when do you stop considering your LO our son or daughter. If or when did you start referring to your LO as my son or daughter? I'm talking how long after separation or how old was your child.

I basically only refer to Hayden as "our" daughter when I am talkin to him or his family. Other than that, she is MY daughter- always has been

Your a better person than I! It has become so much of a habit to me now even when I'm talking to ex directly or his family, she is MY daughter or MY baby.

She is MY daughter, always. He has seen her for a total of less than 45 minutes in her life, has never changed her diaper, fed her to tended to any of her needs... He's only held her for about 10 minutes, and of that 10 minutes she cried almost the entire time because she had no idea who he was.

Therefore, she's MINE!

Same here- my ex's lawyer actually tried to use my phrasing "my son" as "proof" that I don't want him as a part of our DS's life.  Such a jerk - my lawyer had to point out he said the same freaking thing!!

We separated in March 2005, the boys became MINE when in March 2006 he decided to up and move to Florida (we lie in NC) without saying a word to the boys----he left a voicemail on my phone.  For the year prior he was VERY INVOLVED in the boys live and had been living with us for the last three weeks before he left.   The minute he walked out on them, they became MINE.  He hasn't looked back since.   they will always be mine.
