To some people it's like losing a family member. Whose dog died?

It's different, they basically killed it...they can't expect to feed it the way they were and have it live to a healthy ripe age!!! Like, OMG!

its still not your place to "  judge"  how they deal with the lost of there dog. and to alot of ppl there pets are like a family member as much as one of the kids

I would feel like I lost a part of my world if I lost my dog. I cant even imagine. :(

Obivously, we don't know the full story but I would add that loosing a pet is pretty devastating for people. I've been training dogs for 9 years and 99.99% people feel like they have lost a family member.

When my Rottie died (she was my demo dog and went to work with me for 8 years) I was devastated. My coworkers were devastated as well. A year later I still feel her loss.

Just my .02.

I was a slobbering mess when I had to put my 13 year old Rotti down due to bone cancer. I could not even speak because I was crying so hard. Losing a animal is a terrible thing.
