For those who filed: What made you file? Was it a long process? What happens if they don't give you the money? Are you happy you filed?

For those who didn't: Why not? Do you regret it? Are you planning on doing it in the future? Is he still involved even though you chose not to file?

Just curious. I haven't filed. I don't think I am, but you never know. I haven't even had the baby yet. i want to see how things are going to go when the baby gets here.

Q:  hi im new to this website. but i have a question if anyone can help . my daughters father gets to claim her every other year which this is his year. but he hasnt payed a penny in over a year and a half. can he still claim her?

I filed thru CSR because I didn't trust a word he said about what he was going to do. And I don't regret it at all. It's automatically taken from his paycheck and deposited into my account so I never have to hold my hand out to him or anything.

5 moms liked this

I filed because he owed me money for having and raising his child.  Every man should have to pay support for any child he fathers.. PERIOD

I had to file when I moved back to TN because our son and I were on PA, so the state is going after him to repay on that since he was originally on our case.  But that was almost 2 years ago, and he still hasn't been to court about it.  I don't regret it one bit.  I know that the only way I would get any help from him is if he is forced to by law.  He has never kept a job as long as I've known him.  I have managed to take care of our son without his help though, so if I ever do see anything, it's likely to just go into an account for college or something.

I filed mostly so we could get our custody agreement legally on paper and they did CS at the same time. I'm 100% thankful I did it. The state pulls it directly from his check and it goes right in my account...no ifs ands or buts. In Indiana, we had to wait 3 months for our court date, but if the father hasn't paid in those 3 months they will order back pay from the day you filed. If they don't pay they go to jail...

I didn't want to file for child support. I am better off without my son's "father" in our lives. The state, however, made me file when I went on the Families First program. Pissed me off! They know where he is, but they can't force him to show up to court. He tried to play dead when I was 21 weeks pregnant with my son. Months before that, he just flat out denied paternity. Then about 4 weeks before my son was born he tried contacting me under his mom's name and still playing that "I'm deceased" card. Yeah, we're better off.

In most states he is still obligated...thats his problem to figure out how he will pay it.

Wow. That's all the drama I would want to avoid if I did file. Knowing him, he would so the exact same thing.

Yep I filed, first here and then in the state he moved to to skip out on paying here.  They know where he is, where he works, etc but not a damn things been done.

i dont care, I'm a big girl and I dont need his money.  I take care of my DD just fine with out any help from the govt, or a sperm donor, and I'm perfectly fine with it.
