I'm not jealous, but sometimes I get sad that ds gets excited about going to school. I was a sahm for the first 3 years of his life. This going back to work thing was hard on both of us, but me more so. He loves it there and I sometimes feel guilty, like I should be able to be home with him, but being newly single, that isn't going to happen. I hate it. I think what you are feeling is normal.

I didn't feel jealous but sad.  I didn't want to leave my child in the care of a stranger.  I still don't like it

I don't think it's jealousy. I think it's more envy. When my son was little and started going to daycare, I was envious of the people at his daycare because they got to spend more time with him than I did.

Putting him in daycare was harder on me then it was on him.

I think its normal to have some jealousy and even some guilt. Stay focused on the fact that you have him all night and you are doing it to better his future. I promise it will get much easier to leave him with time.

It's not stupid at all! My son is 6 and I still get sad when I don't get to be with him all the time! When he was younger I was a teacher at a child care center, so even though I wasn't in the class with him, I was ALWAYS in the same building. Shortly after splitting up with his father and moving out, I got laid off so I was with him 24/7 at home for almost a year, and then he started kindergarten and that was so tough..on both of us! Our time apart has actually been a good thing, and it will be for you and your child too! It will be a great way for him to learn some independance...and you too:)

I'm going back to school in April, and I'm not looking forward to the time I'll be away from him (he's in school and I work then I'll be gone from 6-10:30 4 nights a week. He also visits his father every other weekend) I have to keep telling myself that I'm away from him to better myself, and our future!

I did but I see how much he's grown and learned and I don't regret it. You are bettering yourself for you and your child!
