I had so many plans to go back to school and get a job in the medical field. yesterday I was looking at descriptions of the classes. And they all said before you join the class they have to do a cori check. Due to my past mistakes. And fights with my sons father. Now I cant even attend any of the medical classes I want to take. On my record I have a domestic charge from 3 yrs ago and my charges were dropped. But it still shows in my cori. I also have a domestic charge from a year ago. That one I was convicted and they gave me 6 months probation and I had to attend anger management classes. Which I completed probation and the classes. My first domestic since it was dropped. I can go to the court house right now and get it sealed. But my second domestic since I was convicted I cant go to the court and ask for it to be sealed until its been 10 years. So now I cant go to school. Or get a job any were. As soon as they do a cori check and they find out I have a domestic charge. they are not going to hire me. I thought this domestic charge wasnt going to hold me back in anything. But now I know it holds me back in everything :(

I'm so sorry, maybe there is another field you can look into, like medical billing/coding so at least its in the same field you are interested in? Not sure, but is there a chance if you talk to your school and explain to them what happened they let you take the classes any way? Or maybe there's another school that doesn't care about past offenses? I hope something works out for you!

Thabk u. I will look into medical billing/coding. If I tell the school my record and they are nice enough to still let me take the course. Its going to be nearly impossible to get hired at a job with my record

:( nearly impossible, is not impossible. I have a friend who had the same issue however, he had multiple felonies. He went to school, graduated, but he was able to find work with smaller businesses, larger companies tend to have "policies" to prevent people with a record getting a job, but with a small company they are more likely to hear you out and be simpathetic, GL!

A lot of companies will hire someone with a record but it all depends on what the record is.  I worked for a company doing tech support before and because I had to access the customer records and they had ssn in them they wouldn't allow anyone with a identity theft or related charge to work there but there were lots of people who had minor criminal records. As long as what you were charged with isn't related to the field you want to work in then its not too hard to find a job.
But a domestic charge will cause problems with a medical field. You have to work closely with people and since your record says you were violent towards another person then most places wouldn't want you to work there.
You can still go to school and do all kinds of things but you may have to look into another field.

Thats what I was thinking. A larger, well known company is going to be stricter than a small company. My best bet is to apply at a small company. I looked into taking medical coding/billing. And I love the course because its online at your own pace. So that means ds doesnt have to go to daycare. And transportation wont be difficult since its at home :). I will also have a better chance getting hired in that field since its mostly being on the computer and doing paper work. So they dont have to worry about taking a risk hiring me
