If they are ABSOLITELY miserable and almost vomitting from coughing so hard?
DS also has asthma and I've been giving him his inhaler 2 puffs at 3 times a day as opposed to the 2 times. His ped said he's too young for cough syrup and says kids don't need it, but he's coughing like a lung is about to come out, and I know the DM in some of the kid's cough syrup will make him drowsy and let him have some rest.
I'm debating on whether or not I should give him some cough syrup. I just want him to get some rest. His cough sounds like it hurts but when I ask him he says he's more tired than anything.

yes, I found one that is suitable for one and up. I'd say get him checked out for whooping cough.
He's had it before and was even vaccinated for it. He's not coughing constantly, it's just when he does, he is coughing SO hard, it looks extremely uncomfortable for him, but he says it doesn't hurt. :(

I did. It's not really doing anything either. I don't want to keep him up, so I gave him decaffeinated herbal lemon tea with some honey but he is still coughing. He also has a fever, so I'm gonna take him to the walk-in in the morning.
Quoting benjamink:
If he's over 1 try giving him a spoon of honey or some tea with honey.
