Embarrassed to shop in Payless

Listen! When I was YOUNGER I remember being ashamed of my mother buying us clothes from Wal-Mart, Payless, etc. The clothes were cheap and that meant that you were poor and we were at the time. Now that I'm older and a mother myself I find myself in these stores to save money. What's the point of spending $50 on a pair of kids shoes when they'll grow right out of them in a couple of months? So I go into Payless and I find a cute pair of shoes for my daughter. The shoes were $30! When did these stores (Target included) get so expensive?! This isn't Saks!!

I LOVE Payless! They always have their buy 1 get 1 half off sales, and even with THAT sale, I can still get 10% off with my SPC (Student Price Card you get after you file your taxes). I just have to show my student ID. I don't bother getting DS's shoes from anywhere else. Plus, Payless's shoes last longer than Wal Mart or Zellers, and I find they're better quality too.

Ngi ne themba - I have hope.

I was just thinking that the other day! I love their moccasin shoes, and I get a pair every year, but they fall apart and are $30!

The one I don't get are the Keds shoes. Now those have become overpriced imo, not that I'd ever buy then for myself.

That's because you need to step into a REAL Native American shop and get them custom made for you! ;)

Keds are cute! With all their colors. It seems like all the things we wore when we were kids are considered "vintage" lol and the prices are sky high.
