Are There Any Landlords Here Or Someone To Help Me With Question ?

I really need help I  don't know what to do. Please give helpful answers. Last month around the 7th or 8th my fridge stopped getting cold the freezer kept working. Everything in the fridge spoiled. I called the landlord she told me  other tenants had this problem and what I needed to do was empty the fridge and either place bowls of hot water or use a blow dryer to melt the ice. Which I did a day and a half later it was cold again. Yesterday it started acting up again so I am having the same problem. My question here and I really feel silly asking but, being forceful is not my strong suit, should I once again empty the freezer and do the whole blow dryer thing or call her and demand a new fridge?

I would be polite and ask for a new fridge

You really should not have to deal with a fridge that needs defrosting every few months.  But I also know that when my tenants don't take care of things - I won't replace them for them - so it depends on your track record with this lady

My tenant baught his own stove and microwave from craigs list since he did not like mine - I did not reimburse him

Thanks mysty923 for your reply you really gave me things to think about. I had to have a stove replaced the pilot light wouldn't work even after she sent maintenance out here, and a ceiling tile replaced in the back bedroom because of a leak in the apartment upstairs. I  looked on the fridges website and it was made in 1991 I'm not sure what the life span of a fridge is but, I am thinking mine is gone. I can't afford to keep replacing  things every month.

I would demand a new fridge. Not ask. If they bulk, then ask if they are going to pay to replace your food when the fridge completely dies.

I agree, you need to let her know that you need a new one. You should not have to defrost everything and replace your food every month.

I would demand at least someone coming to fix it and then a new one if that doesn't work!

She is supposed to buy you a new fridge AND replace or reimburse for the food that spoiled as a result

Thanks for your  reply. Just looked up tenants rights for my state. My particular situation was not addressed I did find a form that I can send to request for repairs which I will send on Monday. Since today is Saturday and I need a fridge I am calling her now . I hope to have this resolved.
