new to cafemom! Have questions about help with schooling for myself as a single mom!
I am a single mother, 22, with a 3 y.o. daughter. I have approximately 3 years of college finished. However, I switched majors from Biology/pre-med to nursing, and hate it. So I'm switching back to bio, and will need help financially to get through these next 2.5 years. I live in Northeast Ohio, and no clue where to start! Any info will help tremendously! Thanks!! (: I would also like to know about any tutoring services available so I could possibly test-out of some courses in an effort to shorten the length of time I'll be in school. (:
Hi and Welcome! Have you tried looking into financial aid? If not, go to www.fafsa.edu and apply for financial aid. It works with 4 year colleges as well as community colleges. As far as tutoring I'm not in OH so maybe you can look at your school's website and see what they offer?
What do you plan on doing with your major? I was in school for an A.S. degree but switched to Early Childhood and now plan on switching back lol Good Luck!
Welcome!! So glad you found us!! I would check with your school and see what they can do to help you.
What type of your doctor are you trying to become? I want to become a pediatrician

Thanks everyone! Yeah, I am in the process of filing my fafsa, do I will then check with my school, oddly I've never thought of that! Lol I plan on going I to med school, which if why I'm trying to cut out some classes now... (:
Welcome to the group! I'm sure you've probably already taken advantage of any loans/grants through FAFSA, have you looked into scholarships as well?
Apply for financial aide, as a single mom you're more than likely qualifying for a grant of some sort. I'm a single mom and qualify for a Pell Grant here in KS. Look in to it, also check out local organizations that have a focus on helping people get farther in their lives. My sister (while she's not a parent) looked into this company here in our hometown (I'm in KS).... they're helping pay for her schooling to become a dental hygenist. Look into it. If there's a "workforce" center check them out where you live. They should have information on that sort of stuff. Good luck!
