Unwanted advice! How do you deal with unwanted advice!

Sometimes I feel that people think can tell you how to raise your child just because you are a single parent doing it on your own. I try to not get mad but it does push my insecurity buttons when someone pipes in on how I am raising my son, especially from someone who is not a parent! What do you do when you get unwanted advice that is on the negative side of things?

I ignore it or say if they want to give their opinions they can go ahead and have their own and do it with them.

1 mom liked this
I let it go in 1 ear & out the other. The people that are so concerned should be my sitters & physically, help out.....other than that, don't want to hear it.

Smile and change the subject. If they're a total stranger though and are being a REAL jerk about it, I give 'em a piece of my mind. :p

I have a friend like that and I always tell her that when she has kids she can do what she likes...

well this is a family member whom is letting stay with them until I get on my feet. So I am a little leary of saying anything because I dont know if they see it as insulting my parenting style or just trying to help and I dont want to seem ungrateful!
