My 4 year old has pubic hair!

While giving my daughter a bath today I pulled at what I thought was hair from her head (I had just washed it) only to discover the the black curly hair on her vaginal area was her pubic hair!!! My heart sank. When she was about 18 months,I was changing her diaper and noticed, what I thought was one of my eyelashes that had fallen. It was attached. I immediately called the pediatrician who told me to come in the next day. When we got into the exam room and I undressed her he immediately said her breast were very large for her age and referred me to a Encronologist. After a few visits the specialist said she was not overly concerned because her breast had not grown anymore.
I am so afraid of where this is going to go. I got breast in the 4th grade and my period in the 5th. I feel that she is a few years ahead of me which frightens me for her. I remember how awkward I felt being the only person in my class wearing a bra and having to carry a pads in elementary was mortifying!

Has anyone else every been through this?

Well science shows that by 2050, I think, children will start maturing at a lot younger ages such as 4 yrs old. It is sad. And yeaa I started my period when I was 9. All I can say is prepare her and try to make her more comfortable about it. I never had help and had to practically be on my own. So I was timid about it too.

wow!!! thats really young. never heard of this that early. my daughter had a period right after she was born. 4 or 5 days old. dr said she still had my hormones in her. crazy huh? i would go back to the dr. its scary to think of ur baby growing up... especially this early. she shouldnt have to deal with puberty yet.

I started my period when I was in 4th grade. I hated being one of very few dealing with that so young.

You might want to consider organic milk and chicken because I've read all the hormones they are using nowadays can cause earlier puberty.

My son lactated for 4 days after he was born, it was so funny and wierd at the same time.

To OP, I agree with everyone else, take her back to the doctor and get her levels checked again.

1 mom liked this
I personally think it has a lot to do with all the hormones in the food we eat now. But I'm no doctor. Take her back in. Four is way too young.
