my and my sons dad are not married and i was wondering what i should do... in south dakota non married parents the mother gets automatic custody and the mother and father can make a arrangment for custody and if the father ends up not liking it he can go to court and try to file for court ordered visitation, is it a good idea to go forward and try to make it official that me and him are no longer together?

a semi problem is that i am schizoaffective and i don't want him to try to use that against me although if he does i have profesionals who are willing to say that i am more than capable to take care of my child but it's still alot of potential drama i am so miserable though

I would go ahead and do it so that way it protects you and your child and so you have something in writing.  Good luck!

 well we officaly called it quits today he hasn't asked bout his son for 4 days so i think it's that he isn't ready for a relationship with a child or a relationship in general he is more on his own mode
