I am having a serious issue with my daughter- she refuses to take medicine.
I know it seems silly but I have tried everything from bribery to taking toys
away. Sugar (like Ms. Poppins) I have scoured the web for advice and even tried
the "worst case scenario" force. It was horrible and my daughter squirmed like
a fish. I cried. I have asked for chewables, even a shot, but the doc says liquid
is preferred. I feel so lost in this and of course my parents are old school - "you
would have gotten your butt spanked..." But I don't want to do that- I just can't.
Overall I have an awesome kid but in this - her defiance is messing with my
Momma-Mojo. If anyone has advice to share it would be appreciated.

Can you mix it into some juice? I would do that with my son, i would give him like 2-4 oz of juice and make sure he drank it all. He had no idea..

Thanks :) any suggestions on a flavor to mask bubblegum - grape that isn't grape juice?

Mix it in a drink. I have done that before and he had no idea. Gotta be sneaky sometimes.

Can you mix it with something else like a drink or apple sauce or pudding?

Mix it or if she's old enough let her help take it that's what made my son better at taking meds

I had to literally sit on top on mine and force the dropper as far back in her mouth as it would go, then put my hand over her mouth until she swallowed.Sounds brutal and abusive, but you gotta do what you gotta do and never feel guilty about the method you have to use because its being done to help her.

Before you mix meds with anything ask the pharmacist. Some meds don't mix we'll with certain founds or juices.

A trick I learned is to squirt it into the back of the cheek, natural instincts take over and she'll swallow.

Unless the meds are for a life threatening or serious condition I would not hold her down. If you do she will never learn to take meds when she really needs them.
