As temperatures drop and snow starts falling there's really nothing more delicious than a hearty bowl of beef stew. It warms the body and is good for the soul -- true comfort food at its finest, really.
Even better is the fact that you can make it in your crock pot with this recipe fromKitchen Life of a Navy Wife. Filled with potatoes, vegetables, and chunks of sirloin, you just take a few minutes to toss everything in, then let it cook all day. When dinner time rolls around, you're ready to roll. Speaking of which, some rolls or bread would go great with it.
Slow Cooker Beef Stew
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1/2 cup water
1 lb sirloin beef steak, cubed
4 medium potatoes, cubed
1 1/2 cups baby carrots
8 oz sliced fresh mushrooms
1 can beef broth (14 oz)
1 can diced tomatoes, undrained (14 oz)
Mix Worcestershire, flour, salt, pepper and water together in a greased slow cooker.
Add beef and remaining ingredients. Mix well.
Cover and cook on LOW for 7-8 hours.
