How do I explain to my 3 year old that we aren't going home?

Hi all, I am new to the group and recently separated from my husband. We had to leave our house because he refuses to go anywhere so we are at my dads. At first my 3 year old dd was happy to be visiting grandpa but now she misses our dog and wants to go home and I just don't know how to tell her we aren't going home. I feel like she is going to hate me.

 Will you b going home at all?  If that's the case, just say we will be going home later, right now we're visiting ______ and we're going to have an enjoyable time here.

I'd let her know that you are going to be staying with grandpa for a while because mommy & daddy don't get along.  

That's really all she needs to know at this point.

Welcome to the group. Tell her mommy and daddy are not happy around each other, so you and her are going to live at grandpa's but she will go play with daddy at his house too. Kids are so much more resilient than we are. She will adapt very soon and life will become the new normal. Stay strong.

Thanks all I know I just need to do it I just know she will be upset. Right now she misses her dog and it breaks my heart.
