Welcome to Day 4 of the Quick & Easy Meals Challenge.  Today we're taking a traditional meatball sandwich and turning it into a casserole to delight!

Meatball Sub Casserole

Ingredients:
1 loaf of Italian (or French) bread, cut into one-inch thick slices
8 oz package cream cheese, softened
1/2 c. mayonaise
1 tsp. Italian seasoning
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 c. shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
1 lb package frozen meatballs, thawed
28 oz jar pasta sauce
1 c. water

Directions:
Arrange bread slices in a single layer in an ungreased 13"x9" baking pan; set aside.

In a bowl, combine cream cheese, mayonnaise and seasonings; spread over bread slices.  Sprinkle with 1/2 cup cheese; set aside.

Gently mix together meatballs, spaghetti sauce and water; spoon over cheese. Sprinkle with remaining cheese.

Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

Is this a recipe you would try?  Would your kids like it?  How often do you use pre-packaged ingredients (like meatballs or pasta sauce) in a dish you serve your family?

Lol cut the cheese.

Quoting Cafe AmyS:

Well, it's not a low cal meal, that's for sure (another reason to cut the cheese in half).

Tomorrow we'll have a healthier choice for you. ;)

Quoting Jenn8604:

This sounds really fattening. Bread and cheese is fattening. How bout a really quick really healthy hardly any calories meal?

This seems a little too heavy for me. I'd be sick for a week! I rarely used prepared items when I cook, especially sauces - so easy to make at home!
