Child support from a carsalesman?

Does anyone have an existing child support order from a car salesman? DS fathers CS was set up by his lawyer, we have yet to receive any of his financial information, but he is set up to pay 60/w plus 20% of his commission check. $60/w is the same as if he made minimum wage in the state of Illinois.

If you receive CS with someone who works commision how does that work out in your situation? I know when we meet with the states atternorys office his will go up, I don't make much and 20% of my check would be twice that punt.

Generally it is avergaed out over a year. How long has he been at the job for?

They'll take his checks for the year & average them. Hopefully he wasn't under selling to lower his average so he could give you less. Good luck.

He has worked there for 7 years. I have his last 2 w2's from my lawyer, so I know the CS outlined is incorrect, should be closer to $150/w (with the downturn of the economy 2011 was a bad year). Now I just have to wait for the state to get around to meeting with us.

I had heard going off w2s was better then going off individual checks when dealing with commission, but am unsure if that is true

The W2 is better because that gives his earnings history. Sounds like he is trying to trick you into accepting a lower amount. I would average out the last 2 years and go off of that. I am commission only and that is exactly how my income was calculated as well.
