Would it be wrong and selfish to want to add my maiden name to my sons last name with his fathers?

no.. my twins have a hyphenated last name. not even understanding how that could be viewed as selfish... my oldest son, who has a different father, bears his last name & hardly knows him. had I'd known this, I would've given him the proper last name--mine.

There's nothing wrong with hyphenated names or using yours as a middle name.

Not selfish at all. I would have done that if my kids' dad didn't have such a long hard to pronounce name.
