I last saw my dad about a month ago.  I won't be seeing him over Father's Day weekend, but I will spend some time with my step dad and I will call my dad (he lives about 4 hours away).

My dad lives in Iowa.  The last time I saw him was back in 2001 at a family funeral. My step-dad lives in OK I see him more because he lives with my mom.

I was like...17? Maybe 18? I'm 23 now. He lives five minutes away and doesn't even know I have a daughter.

I had an amazing dad who was always there for me. He had a stroke and was not all there mentally. 10 years ago, he went to bed early one night and before I went home I went and tucked him in, talked for a bit then kissed his head. As I was leaving he told me he loved me for the 3d time that night. The next morning he died holding my mom's hand and smiling at her. I wouldn't take a million dollars for those last few minutes with him.

My dad died of cancer in 96, the last time I saw him (alive) was in 95.

My dad suicided in 1967 when I was four years old.  I always wish that I'd had more of a chance to get to know him...the reason why I've tried to not keep my kids from their dad.  No person (uncle, family friend, stepdad) could ever replace my dad.  The connection just isn't' the same.
