Would you support his/her decision?  Would the child's other parent?

Yes, I would support her decision but I would make it clear that there are things she will have to eat to get her protein (like beans etc.) I was a vegetarian as a girl and my mom made me eat well even though I didn't eat meat. It is a great life choice if she is willing to make the effort to do it right it could be a great learning experience for her. Good luck...

I would, but it would have to be proven to me that this wasn't a fad or that it was being done because "so and so is doing it".

Of course but he would need to eat his protein other ways and if old enough he would have to help prepare. I probably would go veggie with him I was one for years

When my oldest child was 5 She decided she wanted to be a vegetarian. We talked about it and I let her. My ex husband didn't mind. It only lasted for a year though.
