Never served but most of my family has been in.
Great Grandpa was a Jeep driver in WW1
Grandpa was on Normandy on D-Day and spent most of the 40's in Europe
Grandma was in the Air Force
Dad was in the Navy
Numerous cousins served in the Marines and Army
My cousin is now living in Kandahar and works for the army doing some kind of secret op I'm guessing. Because the most we're allowed to know about him is that he's in the Army and lives in Kandahar.. We get the occasional "I'm still alive" letter though which is considerate of them...
My boyfriend was in the army for 6 years, deployed twice. First trip his caravan (I think thats what is is) hit a roadside bomb. The guys in the humvee in fromt of him died, luckily his just flipped. And the second time was his own fault for standing too close when they were detonating something. He was EOD. He also blew up a cow for fun. Apparently the thing survived it was just buried to it's neck in dirt and rubble.
I considered enlisting but my attention span is too short. I'd get in way too much trouble and probably get someone killed.
Grew up around the military. Step-dad - 30 yrs US Army
Older bro - 22 yrs Air Force
Biol dad - 6 years Marine Corps
God bless them all for serving their country.
