Are you, or your ex, claiming your children on your 2013 taxes?
No, but next year my DS will be claiming himself, me & DD....
UNLESS you have an agreement that states other wise-OR you sign a form-EVERY YEAR, as long as you have had your qualifying chid fro over half of the year-that kid is yours to claim.
It's written in our divorce agreement that we claim our one daughter every other year. Meaning, him one year, me the next, etc etc. Starting with him claiming her this year. We are pretty cordial though so I'm getting half the return anyway. Even though he's filing and claiming.
My DS is the only one working, so he is more or less "supporting" the family...my DD is too young to work and I am disabled...the sperm donors gave up their rights when the child support orders where finalized so they don't claim them...
Quoting superdivamom727: How does that work ?... if the child lives with mom doesn't the mom just claims the child since she pays for everything like child care , health insurance, rent etc .. do the courts tell you who claims the child??
mom 2 a Princess Diva..<3
I claim my son every year.
I don't have a W2, so it would be pointless for me to claim.
