My son was told he could not write about abortion!

My 4th grader was given an assignment to write an essay about his opinion of something that "should be stopped". He wrote about abortion and was told that he could not use it for his graded assignment because it was "inappropriate" to write about in school. Now this was not a paper that anyone would see except his teac...her. It was not an assignment that would be shared with the class. See the attached photo.

If they think that's "inappropriate", then they better not allow one of the kids to write about murder.

I can't believe that the school would not allow him to write on this.  You have done a great job teaching you son our faith.

Ah, yes. The old, "don't infringe on my rights by using your right to speak out against something you're passionate about".

Granted, it's probably a topic that they don't want to bring up in the 4th grade classroom, but I think he should at least be graded on his passion and not told it's "inappropriate".

Since when is standing up for life inappropriate?

But if it's a public school, I'm not surprised, unfortunately.
