HI. I just found this group. I was diagnosed with lupus several years ago, 9 to be exact. At that time, I had 2 children. I now have a 3rd child. I was in remission for 7 years and just recently came out of remission. I am affected by joint pain and back/neck pain. I also get the sores in my mouth and my nose. I am tired all the time, just working 5 hours a day really wears me out. I just started my own business, in hopes of being able to quit working. I am also an advocate for women in learning how hormonal imbalances can affect lupus. Very few women are aware of how being estrogen dominant can lead to lupus or even a flare up. I know that this is deemed contraversial by some with lupus, but it has really worked with me. I do not take any medications, although I have been prescribed the medication. I am looking forward to getting to know other women who face this great wolf.

Hi, my name is kim and i'm new to this group too (just a few days) I was diagnosed w/lupus almost 3 years ago. thinking back over the years i think i had it about 15 years ago but didn't know what was wrong w/me. i just chalked it up to being a busy mom of 4 and working too. I now believe i was in remission for about 7 years. my lupus affects mainly my legs and feet and a year ago i lost my job because of cognitive problems which is still very hard for me to deal with. i believe there is a lot of truth in what you say about hormones/estrogen etc. almost every month consistently about 7-10 before my period is due, comes my "bad" time. the aches and pains are worse and so is the fatigue. I am very sorry to hear that you are out of remission. I completely empathize. I would love to hear more about you, your lupus and your work. hope to hear from you soon. take care.

Yannah,
I am very interested in learning what you've stated about hormones and lupus. I've been under remission now for many years and I was taking birth control pill all those years. Doctors; at least mine say birth control pills are a big no no but for me; it has helped tremendously. I just stopped them a couple of months ago...and my skin is already starting to change
(good thing I sell mary kay)....it's getting very oily when normaly my skin is desert dry. I was diagnosed at 14 and I'm positive it was hormonal; puberty etc...like I said; I'd really like to learn more....thanks for joining the group!
Hope to hear from you soon!

Quoting Tanita:I will post an article I have on auto-immune disorders and natural progesterone. Trust me, natural is so much better than the synthetics. The reason birth control pills are normally a no no is that doctors know estrogen causes you to go into a flare. Would be great if they would share some of the info with their patients. I would love to share more info with you if you are interested. Feel free to message me.
