Moms with one child
know this is a personal topic but if anyone does not mind...................for those of you who have had mirena did you like it? Is it worth it? did you have any BAD side effects? Doyou know anyone else who has it? I do not do well on the pill, I get very bloated, gassy (TMI Sorry) and very tired...............But I cannot for very personal reasons get preggers right now...............I am tired of worrying about it. So I am looking for guidance.............the other part of my personal question is this.....if you have had mirena and have been on the pill, how do they compare? which did you like better? If mirena is not good I will have to try a very low dose estrogen pill and deal with it.................

by abigail824 on Oct. 8, 2008 at 7:34 PMAlthough I don't have it- I have thought about getting it too. Right now I am on the Ortho Evra patch and I really like it. The only concern I have for the Mirena is spending a lot of money on it (I don't know how much my insurance covers on something like that) and then taking it out only after a year or something because we decide to have another. I just don't want to waste money on it. I think it might be pretty expensive since its a 5 year thing. But if you know you'll keep it the whole 5 years, I'd try it. I've heard good things about it- hardly any side effects except for some cramping the first week or something that you have it in. |

by evythecute on Oct. 11, 2008 at 1:31 AMin the new "daily buzz" section here on CM they had this article http://www.cafemom.com/dailybuzz/healthy_living/256/IUD_Birth_Control_Basics I had it. But it didn't work out for me. My body didn't tolerate it. I spotted for the whole 4 months i had it in. so eventually i had to get it out. besides that when i first went on it i was really moody. really easily frustrated and stuff. there were some days i had a really hard time dealing with my DD. But i evened out after a few weeks. My Dr told me what happend to me with the not stopping spotting is rare but is becoming more common for some reason. I would say check and see if your insurance covers it. most do. i only paid my $25 office co-pay for mine. If yours covers it i would say try it. I still think its a good option. It just doesn't work for some but others its fabulous. As far as the Pill goes that was a trial and error thing for me. the first couple i was on i didn't do well at all. but i found a OBGYN that ask me what my symptoms were and gave me a pill with less of one hormone and it worked great for me! But now i have run out of BC options because of health problems. i am down to condoms or Tubal ligation. I am going for the tubal! |
