Mommies due in 2009!
If you had a birth plan, was it followed or completely disregarded? I didn't have one with my daughter and this time I really want birth to go my way...If you had one, do you have any tips on how to write one?

by MayaTheBee on Sep. 8, 2008 at 12:32 PMI never wrote one because I was too afraid of what would happen if things didn't go according to my plan. I had a general plan, ie: no epidural, no episiotomy, being able to move around during labor. I knew that if these things were to change and I had a plan written out I'd feel more out of control and like the dr's/nurses would be not listening to what I wanted. It would have made me angry or frustrated during a time when I would need to feel calm. If that makes any sense. Things didn't go as I had wanted but in the end that didn't really matter because my daughter came out healthy and wonderful and I was fine too. If you write one just keep an open mind still, especially if you are giving birth in a hospital. |

by peytonsmama1024 on Sep. 9, 2008 at 10:59 AMi had one all written up and forgot it. i flat out looked at my doctor when i was in labor and told her i wanted to be listned to. she didnt tell me when to push or count it out i asked if i could push when i felt like it and she let me. the only time she told me to stop was to get the cord untangled from around peytons neck it was great
you can find online birth plan guides just google it! good luck! Quoting Dolphins54559:

by SkyBallsMommy on Sep. 10, 2008 at 10:02 PMwith my son, because it was my first child, i did not do a plan because i knew i had no idea what to expect and i didn't want to have expectations and then have everything get shot down. the only thing i asked was not to have an episiotomy and i didn't have one. my son took his time coming out which let the tissues stretch. i tore a tiny bit but did not need any stitches. that was nice :) |

by Rainray2 on Sep. 11, 2008 at 5:24 AMThis is coming from a different perspective. This is my first baby but I am a Mother/Baby nurse and in my experience those mothers who have very specific birth plans things NEVER go right. For example, they mostly end up with C-sections and their babies are kept in the nursery for a night or two. |

by KorinWagner on Sep. 13, 2008 at 8:25 PMI made a birth plan for both my girls I really didn't know to much the first go round so I asked my midwifes to help me and they did with my second I new what I wanted a water birth and it didn't happen my daughter had some issues and i almost have a Eme. c-section but I pushed Kendel out going to the room in the hall way go figure! I hope with this baby I will get to try again with the water birth but who knows i will still make one just in case so they know what I want.
