So I bought my wee man (10/6/09) his first sippy cup tonight. I'm not gonna offer it to him for another couple weeks, I think. He is at all the milestones he needs to be for a cup and juice, but I'm not gonna offer him anything quite yet. I was just wondering what kind of cups you guys bought for your LO first cup. The kind I bought for my first DS they don't make anymore. So I bought him some Gerber ones with the handles and soft spout. How did youe babies' do with the cups and which ones did you try???
I started all three of mine out with a soft spout like the nuby. then after they figured out how to suck differently for a sippy, I switched them to the harder spouts with the stoppers in it. I didn't like the ones with the handles for when they are younger, because their little hands would get tangled on them and they would get frustrated. they were used to holding their bottle that didn't have handles.
My DS is 8 months old. He is just now getting the hang of a sippy cup. I bought several different types to try. So far, the best thing I have found is the NUK trainer cup. It has a silicone spout like a bottle with two slits for liquid to come out of. It has a 4 oz NUK bottle base that you can either put the trainer handle on, or just go like a bottle.
These are awesome because they can come in a learning system you can buy all in 1, and it comes with different types of spouts and the removeable handle.

I think the ones we got are called Nuby. But I could be wrong. Peyton didnt like them at first but she is ok with them now. Good Luck Momma!
We have the Nuby cups here too. He actually loves the handles. I thought he would have a problem with the handles since his bottle doesn't have them, but he won't take a cup without them!
I bought the Nuby cups as well. They are easy for Audrey to hold and I love the soft nipple part. She tends to gnaw on it, but that's ok. I recently bought her the Nuby cups with the straws. She figured out how to suck through a straw and she is so excited. They are the no leak kind just as the sippy cups are. I think I will eventually switch to the Gerber cups like I did with DS. They have the no spill insert in the cap that I loved.
I started with the Nuby with handles with soft silicone spout too b/c it's BPA and phthalate free- she liked starting with it (http://www.greenhealthybaby.com/nuplsihacupw.html). Then she moved on to the SafeSippy that's stainless steel that they call the "cadillac" of sippy cups! haha she LOVES it! http://www.greenhealthybaby.com/sasiststcup.html
