Toddlers and Eye glasses

So our oldest dd (will be five in September) had to have a health assessment done for school. At the health assessment she had an eye test done and they determined her vision was 20/200 in both eyes, she has an astigmatism, and her gaze is off. We were referred to an eye care specialist and we will be going there on the 20th. She will most likely have to have glasses, which she is not happy about.

What can I expect at this appointment? We always knew something was wrong with her vision but could never get her old pediatrician to take it seriously and when she did "check" her eyes she said everything was fine and stupidly we believed her.

I worry about the gaze issue and plan to bring it up to the eye doctor. My father has an eye that is turned outwards and is fully blind in that eye and I worry she could have what he has, only hers is in the early stages.

I know how eye appointments go, as I wear glasses and so does my mom and two of my brothers, but I have no clue how they do it with children her age.
