What do you pay your babysitter?

We have never hired a babysitter...I don't know what the "going rate" is for a babysitter.  Anyone hire one if so, if you don't mind sharing what you pay your sitter....I have family but do not want to leave my child with them.

not sure where you live, but I live in Tampa, Fl.  I pay a 42 yr old lady (I trust her completely) $13.00 hour. I sometimes use my neice whose 19, but has the maturity of a 13 yr old. I only use her for 1-2 hours at a time. We pay her $10.00 hour.  I have two kids.  My daughter just turned 2, and my son is 6 months. I mostly leave them with my MIL. Thank God for her.

It does depend where you live. I live in Nebraska and the going rate for a teenager is probably $7-$8 an hour, but the rate for an experienced caregiver is more like $10 an hour.

Up here in Northern WI the rate is between 5 and 10 per hour.  Most babysitters take into account the income of the family too.  They understand that famalies without a lot of cash don't pay as much as famalies that have higher incomes.  More kids should equal more pay as well.

Sorry not much help here. I don't pay a babysitter. I actually trade babysitting services with a couple families (ok they are relatives). I watch their kids, they watch mine. Works out nice.

If you are just looking for some mommy or mommy and daddy time, I would suggest try asking another couple to trade off childcare--in the end everyone wins. I have even heard of some kind of group in some neighborhoods that you get "points" for babysitting some elses kids instead of dollars, and that's how you pay your babysitter. They had some system to how many points equals an hour of childcare. Might be something to look into or starting in your area.

I live in a small town southf of Erie, PA.  I occasionally have a girl babysit my little one, and she only charges $4/hr per child.  There are others around my town that are around $6 or $7.

we pay $8-$10 for my boyfriend's boss's daughter to watch our son.  kind of depends on how quickly/last minute we need her, as well as how long we stay out.  generally we end up giving her about $50 for a night out...which is a lot, but she's only not been able to watch our son once so we want to keep her around.  i can tell you i used to make like $25 for like 5+ hours watching 3 neighbor kids when i was 11-15 years old!  not enough!  but i loved the kids so it was okay at the time.

My son goes to a in home daycare, I think she is more of a experienced babysitter. Anyways we pay her $75.00 for part time a week(20 hours) so $3.75 a hour. Her rate for full time is 100 a week.

My DD goes to daycare part-time 2-3 days a week & we pay $45 a day.  The other days my mom or aunt watch DD.  I am trying to get approved with Children's Home Society which can help with daycare costs, I know they have offices here in CA but have heard they are in other states as well, you should check it out.

Good luck
