What is one hobby that you have that you wish you could make money doing?
I love to write, I wish I could make money doing it.
I have quite a few hobbies. I love to bake and decorate cakes, I love photography, I like to crochet, I hand sew things, I like to make quilts, I like to mold clay... Its all for fun though. I think that if I turned any of it into a job rather than just keeping it a hobby, the joy of it would all be lost. I want to look at my hobbies as something fun and relaxing to do. Not something I have to do.
Quoting eatyourveges:My hobbies are sewing and knitting. I used to make a living sewing (I was a bridal seamstress) and I prefer having it as a hobby honestly.
My hobby is horseback riding.. I would love to make money training horses or getting lessons, not gonna happen though lol.
I actually found I had the hardest time with the mothers and best friends; "maid-of-honor-zillas" so to say LOL.

Did you hate working with brides? I went to school for photography and freelanced shooting weddings. I hated it. Brides are the worst. When that Bridezilla show came out I was sure some past clients would be on there. I decided if I kept doing weddings I'd hate photography. I work in accounting now lol.

I started making money doing my hobby, not alot but maybe eventually it will take off more.
I am a small scale quilter. I have sold only one baby quilt to a friend. I have a number of friends who actually have online stores or actually own their own sewing shops. I wouldn't mind being able to at least break even with the hobby, but actually make a profit doing it would not happen. Traveling to craft fairs and shows would be like a second job. Maybe after the little ones are in grade school.
the problem with tring to sell quilts is that very few people are willing to pay what a good quilt is worth. I have a queen bedspread that I made... It has about $120 in materials, Long Arm quilting charge was $200, and I have about 200 hours labor in it. If I was to sell it, I would ask no less than $800. It is a fairly simple design, but it was damn tedious to put together.
