Do you have one? Is it functional? Why? What would make it better? How many hours a week are you in it?
We have one mainly for DH. We have a newer (2002) house, so the master bedroom has a ton of windows, a bay window and a full 5 piece bath attached. Its a beautiful room, but not so nice when DH was working nights and the sun will fill all those windows at 6am. So we converted our master into our office and moved our bed into one of the smaller rooms. We have both our computer desks, our printer and a bunch of white boards all over the walls for creative ideas and schedules (I post our schedule for the week up every Sunday or we would be lost). I'm not in it that often except at night, but DH uses it 6 hours a day appox.
I would love it if the master bath was accessible from some other way as well, because it can get distracting for DH to work when I'm giving the kid his bath or trying to get ready for work.
mine is a disaster of piles. we have our computer on a card table.
all i want is a desk, shelves and a space to craft.
where to get started?
No office, if I work from home, it is from the dining room or couch.
We have a home office but it's for personal use, neither of us work at all from home.
It's bright yellow and has lots of fun paintings and posters. We use it for our computers, paying bills, and "office stuff storage". I have a bookcase in there almost completely dedicated to my knitting and sewing supplies and books. I'm in the process of unpacking more of my fashion and art reference books to keep in there as well (I have a bachelor's in fashion design) and when I fix my sewing machine and serger this is where they will be kept.
I also keep my painting and other art supplies in there as well.
It's sort of more like a small studio than an office per se.
I rarely work from home, only if the kids are sick or it's a snow/ice day. We have a study at the front of our house. My husband and I each have a desk, with our own desktop computers. We have two printers, my photo printer, and a network printer that needs to be replaced. We also have a 4-drawer filing cabinet and some shelves. My desk and chair are very uncomfortable for long periods of time. I really need to get a computer desk and a better chair before winter. I wish I had dual monitors at home, like I do at work. I sometimes put my macbook on my desk or on a tv tray if I'm connected to my work VPN and want to surf the web while I'm running something.
I work from home in on a desk in the corner of the bedroom. I am there 40 hours a week. It would be so much better if we had room for a seperate office, sometimes my work interferes with DHs sleep (he works 2nds and 3rds) especially if i am doing meetings or trainings. We are making it work, but I wish I could have my own place, sadly we have no room.
OK. On my computer now...I think I posted pics in another post, so apologies to anyone ending up seeing my office twice. I used to have my office in the corner of the master bedroom, but then we finished our basement and along with that we had an actual office built. Yeah!
This is where I spend all day, everyday at my job
I also have my grandma's old sewing table in here (it opens up) with a brand new sewing machine my parents got me (too bad I don't yet know how to sew)
There is also an oversized closet I use for storage and a small kids' table for when they want to hang out in here while I'm working. They don't use it much though, since the family room is right outside my door. (this is an older pic when it was newly finished - and you only see 1/2 the closet)
Quoting the3Rs:I work from home in my home office. I have a large L-shaped desk, dual monitors & additional peripheral equipment, an oversized closet with no doors where my kids' table is if they want to hang out w/ me while I work, a sewing desk & a nice window. I'll try to find pics when I'm not on mobile.
I spend all day M-F here since this is where I do my FT job.
I have an office with a commputer & desk, but spend more time on my laptop in the family room!
