Were you established in your career before having children?

Posted by   + Show Post

I was not, and it would have been a lot easier if I had been!

I had graduated college but hadn't yet gotten a job in my field when I got pregnant.  I waitressed until I finally scored my current job (I'm a technical designer for a clothing company) when my son was 3 months old.

I wouldn't change it, but it would have been so much easier the other way around!

ETA: for those of you congratulating me on my job: thank you :-) I probably should have mentioned though that I started at the company almost 2 years ago haha

not even close lol I was 19 and in esthetician school. She was born two weeks after I graduated and I never took the state board. Now I work in the lab at a juice concentrate company.

Yes.  I had been working in the insurance & finance industry for 4 1/2 years, and had been with my employer at the time for 16 months before my first child was born.

I was 19. I'd had a couple different jobs, but no career. Odds are I'll never have a career.

Why do you say that?

I was not, I had my ds when I was 17. I started college when he was an infant.
I now have a BA in speech therapy that I can't do anything with. I want to go back because I need a career. Working this much and having nothing isn't working.
