I've been so behind at work that even though I felt like death I showed up every day this week. It was just a cold, but it hit me pretty hard. I've got plenty of tissues and sanitizer and I tried to confine the germs to my cube as much as possible. I still feel a little guilty because I can hear sniffles from a few people around the office. If I'd have had a fever, I'd have stayed home.
How do you determine when you're sick enough to stay home? Do the kids still go to daycare (or wherever they usually go when you're at work)?
I usually power through with dayquil or what have you. But sometimes there are colds that I catch.. that I go to work for a few days.. and feel worse and worse and worse. Eventually I just take a day off and rest, because I know that's the healthy thing to do.
Here in America we can be too prideful sometimes. If you are really very sick you need to let your body rest and recover.
Idk about you but the daycare still charges me if my son is out for a day. So yes he would go. I quit my job and now I stay at home but when I did work I went to work no matter what. I needed the money. Hubby worked at his shit job back then he has a way better one which is why I got to stay home. But we counte don every penny from that job, so I went in fevers, dizziness whatever.
I am a teacher at a child care center. I have to call in. It is against health department rules and parents would be mad if I infected the kids.. that being said. I do go if I am not contagious

I usually go to work sick. I was sent home because I looked like death. Haha. I am lucky enough to have family close enough that can care for her if I'm ill.
I think a lot of places expect you to be at work no matter what and that has influenced many of us to just go in when whe should be staying home.
Yup. Pleny of times. Not because I wanted to, but because we needed the money. It's a hard case, because yes, I would love to stay home in bed and sleep while using my sick time. But then when I need that sick time to take care of my sick kids, its not there. Granted I don't go in when I'm puking or about to pass out. I just go when my nose is stuffed and sinus pressure is making my head want to explode.
I work in daycare, and if it is something that we would send a kid home for, then I call in sick. But if its something that the kids would be at daycare with then I go in. So, I stay home if I have a fever over 101.0, vomitting (more than 2 times), or diarrhea (more than 3times). Also when I get migraines (rarely) where work would actually hurt me more, I stay home.
