I've been so behind at work that even though I felt like death I showed up every day this week. It was just a cold, but it hit me pretty hard. I've got plenty of tissues and sanitizer and I tried to confine the germs to my cube as much as possible. I still feel a little guilty because I can hear sniffles from a few people around the office. If I'd have had a fever, I'd have stayed home.
How do you determine when you're sick enough to stay home? Do the kids still go to daycare (or wherever they usually go when you're at work)?
I a disabled right now but when I used to work i my clinic as a rn charge nurse I never called in when I was sick unless i was vomiting o it was ommig out the other end. Ihad to much responsibility and would get attiude fromthe staf if I called in. I was also a single mom at the time so I tried to save my sick days or when my son was sick. Was it easy no but is le always easy or fair no. I jus did what I felt was right.
I called out sick twice in 15 years.
Once I had bronchitis and had to get to teh dr - it was the day before thanksgiving
and once last year when I had emergency gall bladder surgery
each day - i missed a single day.
I go to work sick ALL THE TIME.
I work retail - there are sick people in my store ALL THE TIME.
I don't feel bad - I run that store - I do what i have to do.
I take off if I have a fever but otherwise, not usually. I'm a teacher and it's more work to make plans for a sub than it is to go in and take care of business myself. With a sub, you have to make notes about every little thing that I automatically do, so it isn't worth it to be out.
I don't get sick days at my work. I'm in the military so unless my leg has fallen off, I have to be there. I stood post once while throwing up with a 104 degree fever. There was no one who could've replaced me. Right now, I'm coughing up a storm and have been for the past two weeks. I'll just have to try to make an appointment with medical on my off day.
I get tired of taking off to avoid their illness because they're too selfish to use their PAID sick time.
They've given me a virus and bronchitis, which I brought home to my asthmatic son. So, now I make sure I go in and hack a lung up. I Laugh when they say I should go home so I don't get them sick because of their planned vacation coming up. You'll spend your vacation sick if I have anything to do with it.
If the kids are sick (vomiting, fever, difficulty breathing) I keep them home.
