Yesterday someone called to place an order. He said he was a past customer (from over ten years ago) and had multiple sclerosis, so he was wondering if he could get two for the price of one.
I was a little dumbfounded. I've never had a customer try to use life circumstance to get free stuff in quite that way (and I've had many customers cry economic hardship!).
I ended up giving him a coupon code from our catalog. Everyone has access to it, so it wasn't exactly special, but it made him happy enough. He did ask if he could "drop my name" to use the code again.
