Fighting boredom

I just moved a few months ago. I've been at my new job almost two months and I hate it. I'm so used to a fast pace and it is soooo slooowwww here. I know some people like a leisurely pace, but it's killin me. Maybe I'm just not meant to sit behind a desk. Maybe I'm used to having more responsibility. It could also be that I'm used to work that varies, but I'm so bored. I'd love to get a new job, but with the job market right now and the fact that I have a M-F, 8-5, it's tough. What are some ways I can fight this boredom? I've tried looking on the bright side (I have a job, home on weekends, etc) but it doesn't seem to be helping. Does anyone have any ideas?

Ask for additional responsibility?  Maybe there is something someone doesn't want to do that youi would enjoy.

See that's what's funny. I asked my boss for more and he gave me something else I could help with BUT no one wants me to help with it. =/
