posture

I have a desk job M-F 8-5. My posture used to be good but is now terrible! Definitely something to work on. My doctor says this will also help my lower back pain.

Do you sit at a desk all day? How's your posture?

Yep, I am a desk jockey.  I try to sit up a lot.  My mother was very strict on posture, so I think it is pretty ingrained.  And my sister had to wear a brace for scoliosis, so that may have helped, too.

I do sit at a desk all day, but I have scoliosis. It's pretty bad & I wore a Milwaukee brace from 5th-8th grade, and when they took it off I was still crooked.

I learned early on that posture was really important to help alleviate pain, so my posture is pretty good.

I have a desk job also.  I have a bad lower back (bulging disc) so I've trained myself (for the most part) to sit somewhat straight.  Your back should not be totally straight.  There should be that natural curve.  To help this, get a towel and roll it up.  Place it between the the curve of your back and the chair.  That should essentially be how you should sit.

I'm at a desk all day too, but do get up and walk etc... for breaks to get away.  If you don't have a good chair already, you should buy/request one for your desk as it's really important for posture and back pain.  Or they do sell the inserts you can add to the chair to create the natural curve M4LG5 mentioned if you don't want to use a towel, or if your employer will buy from the 'supplies book'. Good luck!

I don't have a desk job but my posture is bad b/c of scoliosis. I do yoga to strengthen my core and help with alignment.

Try sitting on an exercise ball at your desk.

I have a desk job also and my posture is horrible. I try to sit up straighter as much as possible as well as getting up and walking whenever I can. I do make a point to pull my shoulders back down since I tend to scrunch them up near my ears.

I sit at a desk also. I have a sticky note on my computer screen with a reminder to sit up. I asked the ergonomic specialist to set up my chair, desk and monitors properly, but it only works if I sit up.

I stand and bend over a lot throughout the day. My posture is horrible and I think that's partly to blame. I wish I could sit more. :(

I do sit at my desk. I did dance for years, so my posture is pretty good and I do yoga now when I have the time, so that helps. I do have to keep reminding myself though. I need to get a balance ball chair!
