Why? Why Not?

Steph has entered the Why? phase. Last week it was why not? That was easy. Our dog isn't black because she's white (or brown, depending on which dog). Milk doesn't go in the cabinet because it goes in the fridge. Why is harder to answer. Example from this morning: (mommy getting changed, so top is off) Steph: Why mommy put that on (my bra) Me: to keep my boobies in place Steph: why? Me: (after she told me they were wiggling last week) So they don't wiggle Steph: Why Me: Because no one wants to see mommies boobies wiggle Steph: Why? How do you answer that one?

This is the only answer you must always remember. After the 100th question I always said this so the questions would stop for 2 minutes.

I hate answering a question only to be asked 100 more.

Ask her why she thinks you do such and such.

I stop after 3-4 by repeating the last response, until DS moves on.

I asked my ODS, "well buddy, why do you think?" And he responded, "mommy, are you using YOUR listening ears? I asked you WHY? If I knew, do you think I would have asked, seriously." Watch out, they get a little lippy as they age. *chuckles*

My ds is 7 and occasionally goes back to the why phase. I say, Well, WHY? That's a good question.
Then he looks at me in shock for a sec because I didn't just fall into the trap. And then he answers. Right or wrong, we talk about his answer and what would happen if it was actually done the way he answered.
Still time consuming but at least it isn't. The why drill.
