Every week-end to get the week off? Basically work 12 hour Saturdays and Sunday and take hospital patient calls all night long, BUT then have Monday through Friday off?

Seems like a crazy schedule but I can see how it would be tempting. My mom worked 2 12hour shifts on the weekend but she also worked during the week lol she gets antsy when she's not working

You are on call straight for 48 hours, but rounding 24 of those?

This could mean phone calls every 5 minutes all night long or once a night, you would never know.

Ooh, like a weekend answering service?!  Sure!  Sorry, I didn't understand.

No.  My kids are in school during the week, and my husband works Sun - Thurs.  The weekends are the only chance we have for family time.  I could see how this would work for some people, but certainly not for me.  I don't give up my family time for nothing.  :)

You'd possibly spend Monday and Tuesday recovering from a busy weekend. Depending on the type of practice/patients, winter could really be tough!
